The future of Curtis Island is in your hands!

Curtis Island, located off Gladstone, and the critically endangered animals that live here are under threat. The State Government is proposing to declare 1/4 of the island as State Development area, threatening this pristine and essential environment by bringing in noxious industries.

The Santos proposal of a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on the island is just the beginning and only a nuclear energy plant would be more dangerous for the residential community of Gladstone. The local community of Gladstone propose to make Curtis Island a National Park and take the time NOW to save it. If the State Development Area was to be given the go ahead, the consequences would be phenomenal, with the door being opened to such industries as "Special" waste management - Nuclear waste possibly?

Curtis Island is the Lungs of Gladstone and the people and native animals in the area, now and of the future, need us to act now. We know industry is important and there are other options, which don't involve bringing LNG Tanker's past the front door of the residents of Gladstone, or jeopardising the existence of our endangered animals.

Help us get the message out & support in!

Were you scared when you heard that Curtis Island, the lungs of Gladstone, was being proposed by state government as a State Development Area where noxious or hazardous industry, including several LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) plants would replace the existing ecosystem?

Are the 40 – 60 estimated jobs that will be created, worth destroying and devastating this rare ecosystem for?

What happens to the endangered species and species of concern that the Island is home to?

And what about the neighbouring marine park habitat protection zone? What will happen to it?
